The world's best poker players are battling it out for a winner-takes-all $2 million prize. The Tournament of Champions, which boasts ten top-notch players, will air Sept. 21 on ESPN. The results of the No-Limit Texas Hold'Em event won't be disclosed until the tournament is broadcast on the cable channel.
The players include four past World Series of Poker champions: Greg Raymer, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan and Phil Hellmuth. Annie Duke, T.J. Cloutier, Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Daniel Negreanu and Chip Reese are also competing.
Raymer, a 39-year-old patent lawyer from Stonington, Conn., who won this year's World Series, will attempt to duplicate another improbable victory.
Raymer, also known as the "Fossilman," beat out a field of 2,576 in May to win the prestigious event.
The Tournament of Champions is being run by Harrah's Entertainment.
