Irishman John Donnelly wins the Battle of the Mags

John Donnelly, a hackney driver from Maynooth, Co. Kildare, is the new paddypowerpoker.com Battle of the Mags Champion.  The Irishman, representing Poker Pro Europe, emerged victorious from a dramatic televised final table to claim the title and a package of tournament buy-ins worth £14,000.

The victory was particularly exciting for Donnelly who will now get to fulfil one of his long time ambitions. "It is a dream to play at the Irish Open", said Donnelly, who has only ever attended the event as an eager spectator. "I can't wait to pit my wits against some of the biggest names in world poker!"

Battle of the Mags comprised a series of tournaments designed to find the most skilled poker player from the readership of Europe's top poker magazines. The cosmopolitan Grand Final featured players from Ireland, the UK, Poland, Germany and Denmark, each of which had already overcome more than 9,000 competitors by winning their respective magazines exclusive MTT satellites on Paddy Power Poker.
