"PokerStars has very graciously asked me to sign on as one of their official players," said 49-year-old Alexander.
"I am very flattered and happy to be playing for a real quality site and with the kind of professionals that remind me every day how truly mediocre I am at this game. But I'm learning and now I can learn from some of the best."
PokerStars revealed that Alexander would appear at live events including the 2009 World Series of Poker and its international poker circuit while playing online under the moniker 'J. Alexander'.
Alexander has played in a few major events in the past including the NBC Heads-Up Championship 2008 sporting a PokerStars shirt and was a regular on the now cancelled Celebrity Poker Showdown television programme.
