The Irish Winter Festival 2009 got off to a roaring start last night, with a total of 237 players taking part in the Irish Masters €150 + €15 rebuy Super Satellite tournament - when the tournament ended after midnight, another 50 players had won tickets to today's big game!

The €1500 + €150 Irish Masters began at 2pm and after a late dash for registration, a grand total of 398 players sat down with 15,000 chips in front of them! Some of the big name professionals playing include Padraig Parkinson, John O'Shea, Rory Rees Brennan, Neil Channing, Julian Thew and former Irish Open winner Marty Smyth. Chipleaders at this point include:

- Markus Sippe - 55,000
- Jamel Maistriaux - 55,000
- Justin Barker - 43,000
