Hamilton wins WSOP Event 17, Ladies Event

Event 17, Ladies World Poker Championship is only open to women. The buy-in was at $1,000 and this year attended by 1,060 players. The total prize money was $964,600 with a first price of $195,390.

The winner Linda Hamilton lives in Las Vegas and is a daily cash-game player. She tends to play TNL at levels $10 - $20 up to $50 - $100. This was Linda Hamilton second participation in the WSOP, and her first time ending in the money. In the final she beat heads-up police captain Lori Bender who received $120,575.

Linda who had sworn to never again play tournament poker, after only lasting a few minutes in her last WSOP adventure, accompanied a friend to see her play, but had at the last moment repented and chosen to participate herself and said they were shocked by the result. In the writing's moment knew she would not play more tournaments in addition to main event.
