Ray Foley wins Event 39

Cantu is known for his over aggressive style of play and also had a great chiplead when six players remained in the tournament, with more than twice as much chips as the player behind him. He managed, however, not hold it all the way and finally stood Ray Foley as the winner.

Results from the final table:

1. Ray Foley - $657,969
2. Brandon Cantu - $403,951
3. Wei Mu - $269,609
4. Alex Jacob - $190,857
5. Tyler Spalding - $143,421
6. Jonathan Markham - $114,514
7. Chairud Vangchailued - $96,355
8. Richard Lutes - $85,608
9. Patrick O'Connor - $80,049

J.C. Tran wins the $2,500 PLO

J.C. Tran held the baton all the way on a tough finaltable and won his second bracelet and his first title which wasn't in Texas Hold'em. By winning $235,685 in this even his total tournament winnings accumulates to unprecedented 8 million dollars.

The final table in WSOP-Event 30 contained names such as John Juanda, Omaha-bracelet winner Theo Jörgensen and Omaha / Hold 'em-winner from earlier this year Rami "arbianight" Bukai. It seemed, however, to be no match for J.C. who controlled the final table until the end when he defeated Jeff "Jaffa Cake" Kimber heads-up.

This was just another success for the Vietnam-born Americans who already have a bracelet and eight top-7-placements in the WPT.

Results from the final table:

1. J.C. Tran 235 685 dollar
2. Jeff Kimber 145 656 dollar
3. Jean Phillipe Leandri 95 837 dollar
4. Ross Boatman 66 936 dollar
5. Dallas Flowers 49 387 dollar
6. Rami Boukai 38 407 dollar

Leo Wolpert win heads-up World Cup

26-year-old Leo Wolpert won his first bracelet when he defeated EPT founder John Duthie by 2-1 in matches in the final. The former poker professional and now law student took home $625,682.

- I used to play many heads-up games on the net, but I have not played it since last November, says the winner. It was however a hard game, John Duthie winning the first match.

- I ridge a little after the first match, I will not lie. But I was determined to win from the start, so I calmed down and focused on the next game instead.

Leo has a background as a professional money player primarily online, but now he uses his profits to finance his law studies.

John Duthie won $386,636 by finishing second.

Brock Parker wins WSOP 2009 Event 19

The winner of Event 19, Brock Parker took his second bracelet of the year during the WSOP, and there is nothing wrong with his self-confidence. - When I go into the next tournament, people will have respect for me, they know I've got good momentum now, and they are probably afraid of me, "says Brook.

Brock Parker is actually named John in the first name and has 2 bracelets, 4 finaltables and 13 placements "in the money" in the WSOP.

- It's really quite unreal to win a second bracelet, it does not feel like it's for real, "says Brock.

- I have not slept in several days, but I will most probably play the next event tomorrow also.

Was it difficult to focus on the game without thinking about the bracelet and the big money that was at stake? - I started to think about money and the bracelet at the final stage, but I did everything to get it out of my head, but I continued to get good hands, so I could continue to put pressure on opponents, finish Brock.

Linda Hamilton wins WSOP Event 17, Ladies Event

Event 17, Ladies World Poker Championship is only open to women. The buy-in was at $1,000 and this year attended by 1,060 players. The total prize money was $964,600 with a first price of $195,390.

The winner Linda Hamilton lives in Las Vegas and is a daily cash-game player. She tends to play TNL at levels $10 - $20 up to $50 - $100. This was Linda Hamilton second participation in the WSOP, and her first time ending in the money. In the final she beat heads-up police captain Lori Bender who received $120,575.

Linda who had sworn to never again play tournament poker, after only lasting a few minutes in her last WSOP adventure, accompanied a friend to see her play, but had at the last moment repented and chosen to participate herself and said they were shocked by the result. In the writing's moment knew she would not play more tournaments in addition to main event.

Jeff Lisandro wins his second WSOP-bracelet

Italian Jeff Lisandro won Event 16, the $1,500 Seven Card Stud WSOP 2009 event and took home $125,000 in first prize. Jeff was born in Australia but has been living both in the U.S. and Italy. He worked previously with real estates but now plays poker full time. His previous Bracelet was also in Seven-Card Stud two years ago. Besides his two Bracelets Jeff has played 10 final tables and has ended "in the money" in 27 events in the WSOP, a very impressive track record.

The final table contained two other Bracelet winners: John Juanda and Rod Pardey Sr. Rod from Seattle, the latter who also was the one who got to see the defeat in the final stage and heads-up game against Lisandro. John Juanda finished in fifth place. 359 players participated in this event.

Sixth WSOP Bracelet for Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey is absolutely one of the best poker players in the world, a player that easily can adapt to any variant of the game and style. He has excellent skills both as a cash and tournament player. Even thought he has destroyed players in the highest and toughest cash games for tens of millions over the years, he has not won a WSOP bracelet since 2003. However, now was the time!

Phil outlasted a 147-strong field in the No-Limit 2-7 Draw event, winning his sixth WSOP bracelet and $96,361. He met John Monnette heads-up and took down the prize with his opponent drawing dead when the chips flew in.

2-7 Draw is a game in which players receive five cards, draw once and attempt to make the best five-card low hand such as 76432. Ivey is very skilled at games outside of NLHE and PLO, proved by the fact that he rushed off to play the $10,000 Mixed Game championship shortly after his bracelet win. Perhaps this year Phil plans to win some more bracelets.

Travis Johnson wins Event 7

Another No Limit Hold'em event has ended, this time with $1,500 in buy-in, and it was an anonymous final table that tonight screened down to a single winner. 2791 players showed up which made the first prize into $666 853.

Russian victory in WSOP 2009 Event 2

Event 2 was the first open event of the WSOP 2009, especially for those who could afford the buy-in of $40 000. The extraordinary tournament was introduced to celebrate the WSOP's 40-year anniversary.

After Greg Raymer went out in third place, the heads-up between Haxton and Lunkin started, and finally it was the Russian who drew the longest straw and took the second victory in a short time and also his second bracelet in his career after winning a $1,500 event last year.
