Las Vegas resident Thing Luu wrote poker history when winning the WSOP, Event 3, $1,500 Omaha Hi / Lo. In last year's WSOP Luu also won the $1,500 Omaha Hi / Lo event and 2007 he ended up second in the $2,000 Omaha Hi / Lo event. He is simply a killer at Omaha Hi / Lo.

Event 2 was the first open event of the WSOP 2009, especially for those who could afford the buy-in of $40 000. The extraordinary tournament was introduced to celebrate the WSOP's 40-year anniversary.


Historic winner in WSOP 2009 Event 3

Las Vegas resident Thing Luu wrote poker history when winning the WSOP, Event 3, $1,500 Omaha Hi / Lo. In last year's WSOP Luu also won the $1,500 Omaha Hi / Lo event and 2007 he ended up second in the $2,000 Omaha Hi / Lo event. He is simply a killer at Omaha Hi / Lo.

2007 he outlasted 533 opponents and last year he defeated 832 players. This year 918 players started the tournament and all saw the passing of Thing who won $263 190. The major participants were also a record for a live tournament in Omaha Hi / Lo.

Luu came to the final table as third in the chip count but was thus finally emerged victorious before Ed Smith.

Russian victory in WSOP 2009 Event 2

Event 2 was the first open event of the WSOP 2009, especially for those who could afford the buy-in of $40 000. The extraordinary tournament was introduced to celebrate the WSOP's 40-year anniversary.

201 players participated and, as expected, it was very strong starting field, which also was shown at the final table where high stake player Isaac Haxton was the chip leader before the last day of the game. At the table was also Greg Raymer, Ted Forrest, Alec "trahejo" Torelli, Justin "ZeeJustin" Bonomo, Dani "Ansky" Stern, Noah Schwartz, Lex Veldhuis and Vitaly Lunkin, who only a few weeks ago won the PokerStars Russian Poker Tour Tournament in Moscow and $443 000.

After Greg Raymer went out in third place, the heads-up between Haxton and Lunkin started, and finally it was the Russian who drew the longest straw and took the second victory in a short time and also his second bracelet in his career after winning a $1,500 event last year.
